Eurozone's retail trade volume down 0.4 percent in July

(MENAFN) The volume of retail trade edged down 0.4 percent in July in the Eurozone and the 28-member European Union (EU), Xinhua reported.

In June, retail trade increased by 0.3 percent in both zones, the statistical office of the European bloc (Eurostat) figures showed.

The July decrease is attributed to falls of 0.6 percent in food, drinks and tobacco and 0.2 percent for the non-food sector, while automotive fuel rose 0.5 percent.

For the 28-nation EU, the 0.4 percent decrease in retail trade is due to falls of 0.5 percent in food, drinks and tobacco, 0.3 percent for automotive.

Austria, Germany and Sweden registered the largest decreases, while the highest increases were registered in Portugal and Latvia.
