(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Greek President Carlos Papoulias said on Wednesday that he greatly admires the idea of "Journey of Hope", which has humanitarian dimensions and aims to brief the world on the problems and sufferings of mentally disabled people.
In a statement received by KUNA, the Kuwaiti Embassy in Athens said this came during Papoulias's meeting, in Athens, with the head of team of the "Journey of Hope" Jassem Al-Badr and the boat's captain Daoud Bojrou in the presence of Kuwaiti Ambassador to Greece Raed Abdullah Al-Rifai.
Papoulias said that the journey has an important role in urging states and societies all over the world to exert efforts for integrating the disabled into society, noted the sattement.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Rifai conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Papoulias. In the greetings His Highness the Amir wished progress and prosperity for Greek government and people.
Papoulias, meanwhile, asked the mission to convey his greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, appreciating the humanitarian role of His Highness the Amir towards the disabled.
Ambassador Al-Rifai thanked Greek Papoulias for his support and facilitations provided for the team.
Al-Badr briefed Papoulias and Greek officials on the humanitarian aims of Journey of Hope, indicating how those aims participated in helping children of special needs practically and psychotically.
The trip, sponsored by His Highness the Amir, visited 20 countries and 39 ports.
Members of the journey told representatives of Greek societies, concerned with people with special needs, about problems of the disabled children and exchanged views and experinces on tackling those problems.
Ambassador Al-Rifai, accompanied by Governor of Alimos, received the boat of Journey of Hope, which arrived in the governorate on Sunday. The boat is due to depart Alimos Port Thursday, heading to Istanbul to resume the humanitarian journey.
