Japan's imported car sales dip 10.2 percent in August


(MENAFN) Local media reported that Japan's new imported car sales, including those made abroad by Japanese automakers, dropped 10.2 percent in August to 21,514 units on-year, Xinhua reported.

Foreign-brand vehicles sales declined 6.7 percent to 18,275 units, while sales of Japanese-brand vehicles dipped 25.9 percent to 3,239 units, the Japan Automobile Importers Association said.

In terms of German brands, Mercedes-Benz sold 4,568 units in the cited period, an increase of 10.8 percent, while Volkswagen followed with 3,729 units sold, down 14.2 percent.

Among domestic brands, Nissan's sales dropped 32.7 percent, with 1, 736 units sold during the period, while Toyota's sales increased 10.4 percent, with sales hitting 1,185 units.
