(MENAFN- The Peninsula) With three days to go until the IHF Super Globe handball contest, which takes place from September 7 to 12 at the brand new Qatar Handball Association Complex, a team of volunteers is preparing to showcase Qatar's incredible capacity to host major events and to demonstrate the warm hospitality of Doha.
The IHF Super Globe is a major handball competition contested between the champion clubs from different confederations around the world. In total, eight club teams from five continents will compete for the trophy in Doha.
Qatar is hosting this high profile sporting event for five consecutive years since 2010, with this year's event particularly important as the nation prepares to hold the Qatar 2015 24th Men's Handball World Championship next year.
To ensure the event runs smoothly, the Qatar 2015 organising committee has encouraged people from across the community to volunteer and participate in this event. They will play a variety of roles, from welcoming visitors through to helping to manage the event, which will take place at the all-new Qatar Handball Association Complex.
Similar training will be provided to everyone who volunteers for future events and there will be opportunities to volunteer across a range of areas, including Accommodation, Accreditation, Airport Services, Doping Control, Media & Broadcasting, Protocol, Spectator Services, Transport, Uniforms and Workforce.
Recruitment started over the summer, using the official Qatar 2015 Volunteers Centre in Doha as a base of operations, and more than 150 people will work as volunteers for the IHF Super Globe next week.
Dr. Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Director General, Qatar 2015 said: "Volunteers play a key role in the success of any major sporting event, and we have developed a sophisticated process to select, train and support our volunteers for the IHF Super Globe. We will expand our volunteer efforts to ensure the success of the Qatar 2015 24th Men's Handball World Championship."
Over the next few months, Qatar 2015 24th Men's Handball World Championship Organising Committee is looking to recruit a team of 1,500 volunteers from across Qatar and more widely from the region.
