French President Suspends Shipment of Russian Warship

(MENAFN- QNA) French President Francois Hollande has suspended the delivery of the first of two warships being built for Russia in western France.

In a statement following a meeting with his security cabinet Hollande said that "despite the prospect of a ceasefire ... the conditions for France to authorize the delivery of the first warship have not yet been satisfied." France has been under pressure to back out of the contract to supply two 1.2-billion-euro (1.6-billion-dollar) helicopter carriers, dpa reported.

The first vessel, the Vladivostok, had been scheduled for delivery in October.
