Japan's PM Set for 1st Cabinet Reshuffle


(MENAFN- QNA) Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is reshuffling his Cabinet on Wednesday for the first time in his 2nd term as prime minister.

Ahead of the Cabinet revamp in the afternoon, Abe's Liberal Democratic Party endorsed the appointment of new executives, led by Sadakazu Tanigaki, currently justice minister, as secretary general. Tanigaki was LDP leader when the Democratic Party of Japan was in power from 2009 to 2012, according to Japan's Kyodo News Agency.

Tomomi Inada, state minister in charge of administrative reform, was appointed chairwoman of the LDP Policy Research Council, while Toshihiro Nikai, head of the House of Representatives Budget Committee, will serve as chairman of the LDP General Council.
