Biden discusses NATO Summit with Slovak Pres.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Vice President Joe Biden spoke Tuesday with Slovak President Andrej Kiska about the pair's bilateral relations, the NATO Summit, and the crisis in Ukraine.

Biden reiterated the US' commitment toward NATO's collective defense plan under Article 5, and welcomed Kiska's support for, "strengthening the transatlantic relationship and for Slovakia's contributions to NATO," according to a statement from the White House.

The Vice President also highlighted, "strong bilateral relationship between Slovakia and the United States, and congratulated President Kiska on Slovakia's Constitution Day on September 1." For his part, Kiska, "noted that today the reverse flow of gas had begun between Slovakia and Ukraine, which can help Ukraine meet some of its energy needs," affirmed the statement.

The two also discussed the need to impose consequences on Russia for its actions in Ukraine.
