Algeria to Acquire Five Cargo Ships Before the End of the Year


(MENAFN- QNA) The Algerian government announced that it will acquire five cargo ships before the end of this year.

Algerian Minister of Transport Amar Ghoul said in remarks today that the purchase of the new ships falls under the programme of modernization of the commercial fleet which includes the acquisition of 27 ships, including 25 intended for the transport of goods and two for passengers at a total cost estimated at 120 billion Algerian Dinars (USD 85 dinars).

Algeria received yesterday a commercial ship from Denmark at a cost of USD 16.5 million which will enter service on the route between Algiers and the Belgian port of Anvers. The ship is equipped for transport of rain and petroleum products with a capacity of 10 thousand tonnes, the equivalent of 700 containers.
