Lebanese Parliament Fails to Elect President for 11th time

(MENAFN- QNA) Lebanon on Tuesday failed to choose a new president for the 11th time since April as a main bloc of legislators kept up with their boycott of the vote.

Only about 50 of Lebanon's 128 MPs arrived to Parliament in an unremarkable saga to fill a post vacated by former president Michel Sleiman when his term ended in May.

Eighty-six MPs are needed to achieve quorum.

Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri postponed the presidential vote to September 23, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
