(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Syrian army intensified the bombardment on the northeastern city of Al-Hasakah city, forcing some 60,000 residents to flee their homes in the recent days, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Monday.
Dozens of people were killed or injured in the raging battles in Guiran district between the regular troops and the Kurdish popular protection units.
Eight militants of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) were killed in clashes with Kurdish and pro-regime militiamen in Jaza'a village near the borders with Iraq.
In the eastern governorate of Deir Az-Zor the Syrian warplanes continued pounding the ISIL locations in Al-Jebilah district where several ISIL militants, including a leading member, were injured.
Islamist grops attacked a military personnel carrier in Shar'aya village, north Hama city, and inflicted casualties on the regular troops while an Islamist commander was killed in clashes near Halfaya city.
Meanwhile, the Arab Palestinian Refugees General Commission and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) distributed 425 food baskets and 295 health baskets among the residents of Al-Yarmouk refugee camp south Damascus.
"The 350 food baskets were delivered yesterday under sponsorship of the Syrian government," the Syrian SANA news agency qouted Commission's director Ali Mustafa as saying today.
Mustafa added that a total of 46,485 baskets have been distributed since January 30, noting that UNRWA's medical point in the camp continues to provide health services to the locals there.
