MoT to promote Oman as travel destination to Indian tour operators


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A group of tour and travel operators from India will visit Oman this month to explore business opportunities.

According to a source in the Ministry of Tourism the main aim of the visit is to familiarise the operators with the country's tourism potential and promote it as a travel destination in India which is emerging as a big spender in foreign countries.

During the course of the stay the tour operators will be briefed about different scenic spots in Oman said the source.

The sultanate has been hosting tour operators from different countries and familiarising them with its culture and heritage.

Recently representatives of two Filipino travel and tour companies were in Oman to promote a two-way tourism exchange. In addition tour operators from Germany Austria and Switzerland have also visited the sultanate.

The ministry is already promoting Oman as a wedding destination in India. Wedding planners had visited Oman in the past and some marriages engagement ceremonies and pre-engagement events are likely to take place this year or the next.

The source added that a lot of countries today are promoting themselves in different ways to attract tourists.

Recently a Singapore-based organisation Crescent Ratings ranked Oman 11th among the most Muslim friendly holiday destinations. The criteria for  ranking included suitability as a family holiday destination level of services and facilities offered for Muslim travellers food and marketing initiatives of the destination.
