Renault Samsung sales dip 2.3 percent in August


(MENAFN) Renault Samsung Motors Co. sales dropped 2.3 percent in August compared to a year earlier, dragged down by partial strikes that hurt production, Yonhap reported.

The carmaker reported selling a total of 10,559 vehicles last month, compared to 10,811 units sold during the same period last year, the company said in a statement.

Domestic sales declined 6.9 percent to 4,741 units compared to 5,094 vehicles sold in August 2013. Meanwhile, overseas sales went up 1.8 percent, reaching 5,818 units.

In the January-August period, Renault Samsung sales reached 85,668 units, up 7.6 percent from the 79,601 vehicles sold a year earlier. South Korea's sales stood at 47,758 cars, up 30.9 percent.
