S. Korea's trade surplus hits USD3.41b in August

(MENAFN) A governmental report showed that South Korea has posted a trade surplus for 31 consecutive months in August on relatively solid exports, Xinhua reported.

Trade surplus hit USD3.41 billion in August, following a surplus of USD2.4 billion registered in the previous month, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The country's exports fell slightly on less business days, but daily average exports increased on the back of robust demand for major export items, the ministry added.

The country's exports in the January-June period edged down 0.1 percent in August to USD46.28 billion, while imports increased 3.1 percent in the period, reaching USD42.87 billion.
