(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The six-day Omani Products Exhibition at the Lulu Hypermarket in Salalah that concluded on Saturday has witnessed a large turnout.

Held along with the Salalah Tourism Festival the exhibition was organised by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) as part of the national campaign to promote locally manufactured products stated a press release.

Hamood al Balushi director of Omani products department at PEIE and member of the coordination committee for joint external Omani products exhibitions said "PEIE will continue to organise mobile exhibitions of Omani products in schools in the sultanate as per an MoU signed with the Ministry of Education. The main aim of the MoU is to help spread awareness on the importance of purchasing locally manufactured products among schoolchildren. Besides the third Omani Products Expo (OPEX) will be held in Dubai UAE from September 14 to 16.'

Meanwhile visitors to the exhibition appreciated the quality of Omani products. Ali al Shommari a visitor from Kuwait said "The quality of the products showcased here show the importance the Omani government  gives to locally manufactured products.'

John a visitor from the US said "I think Omani products have the capability to compete with products from other countries. It is time that Omani companies realise their potential and increase the production of goods and promote them in the country and abroad."

Essam Aldeen from Egypt who was also at the exhibition said that local products are always better than imported ones. "Salalah Tourism Festival is the best time to host an exhibition as a lot of people from across the world particularly Arab countries  attend the festival. In addition to the excellent quality the prices of Omani products are also quite reasonable" said Aldeen.
