(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) This year has seen a 3.9 per cent rise in the total number of Khareef visitors to Salalah for the period from June 21 to August 30.
The numbers have risen from 399747 in the corresponding period last year to 415209 a National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) bulletin has said. The report has recorded an increase in tourists from non-GCC Arab states the Americas and Europe.
Visitors from GCC states including Oman too showed a 3.9 per cent increase “ from 369139 in June to August 2013 to 383434 this year.
Omanis meanwhile constituted 76.2 per cent of the total visitors while other GCC citizens represented 16.1 per cent.
The most significant increase (71.5 per cent) was recorded in the number of non-GCC Arab visitors - the figures reached 7129 this year from the 4157 recorded last year.
As many as 1634 European visitors were recorded this year compared to 1600 in 2013 a rise of 2.1 per cent.
The NCSI statistics also show that 115102 visitors took flights to Salalah (99695 domestic and 15407 international); 300107 drove to the governorate.
