Pakistan Army Chief Calls Commanders for Emergency Meeting


(MENAFN- QNA) The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan General Raheel Sharif has called a meeting to discuss the prevailing political situation, ARY News reported.

The meeting will review the current situation developed in the wake of police attack on protesters that left at least four persons and over 250 injured.

Sources informed that the meeting, presided over by General Sharif, had already started and attended by senior military officers including director general military operations and director general military intelligence.

They told that the Corps Commanders meeting had also been summoned tomorrow (Monday).

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also left for Islamabad to chair a meeting to discuss strategy for coping with the current political impasse.
