Philippine Peacekeepers Rescued on Golan: UN


United Nations (UN) said that thirty-two Philippine UN peacekeepers, stationed on the Syrian side of Golan Heights, have been rescued from Islamists who fired at their post and trapped them for two days.

A UN statement said that another group of 40 peacekeepers are sieged by militants.

Philippine Defence Minister Voltaire Gazmin earlier that Philippine peacekeepers trapped by rebels in the Syrian Golan Heights are "under attack", adding that the assault had started early on Saturday, but gave no details on any casualties.
