Attack targeting NDS office kills 6 in E. Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least six people were killed and dozens wounded when a suicide car bomber attacked an office of the Afghan intelligence agency, the National Directorate of Security (NDS), in the eastern city of Jalalabad on Saturday, said officials.

The spokesman for Nangarhar provincial governor, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, said in a statement, "The attack was carried out by a vehicle bomb on the Nangarhar provincial NDS office, and then some militants started attacking the office." The militants and NDS employees exchanged fire killing at least six people including three employees of the NDS.

The head of the Nangarhar public hospital confirmed receiving six corpses. Dr. Najeebullah Kamawal at the hospital said, "Six dead bodies and 46 wounded were brought to the hospital, 26 of them were admitted and the rest were discharged." Taliban rebels' spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid took responsibility for the attack claiming several NDS agents were killed in the assault.
