Egypt court upholds death sentences to 6 Brotherhood leaders

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) An Egyptian court on Saturday upheld death sentences to six Muslim Brotherhood leaders over inciting violent clashes near Al-Istiqama Mosque in Giza Governorate.

The court also commuted death sentences to life in prison for eight others, including the group supreme leader Mohammad Badie.

The death sentences were upheld against the leaders who are being tried in absentia.

In June, the court sentenced all defendants to death and referred the verdict to the grand Mufti to give his unbinding view. In his reply, the mufti rejected all the death sentences.
