(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, Saturday said deployment of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine is a violation of its sovereignty and is unacceptable.
"Sanctions are touching the nerves of the other side (Russia). We should deepen those sanctions in such a way that the other side understands we are serious. We also need to discuss the impact the sanctions and countermeasures have had so far," he told journalists ahead of a special EU summit in Brussels.
Speaking about the top jobs that the EU leaders will decide today, Schulz said if the new European Commission will have fewer women than the current one, it risks not being approved by the EP.
