Egypt, US discuss latest developments in Gaza


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and US Secretary of State John Kerry discussed by phone on Saturday the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

The conversation dealt with the current contacts to resume indirect negotiations between Palestinian factions and Israel, said a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

The two ministers discussed current preparations for reconstructing Gaza, including the planned international conference, to be hosted by Egypt in cooperation with Norway, on the reconstruction, the statement said.

Both sides also reviewed a number of regional issues of common interests, including positions in Libya, Syria and Iraq. They stressed the importance of joint regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and the need to bolster the bilateral ties in different fields, it added.
