Militants release 5 Lebanese soldiers


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Four Lebanese military soldiers and a fifth from the Internal Security Forces kidnapped by armed groups in the border town of Arsal were released on Saturday after a month in captivity.

The five are now under the care of Sheikh Mustafa Hujairi, and would be handed over to security bodies, according to the National News Agency (NNA).

Militants of different armed groups crossed the Lebanese border from Syria and attacked military posts in Arsal. 35 soldiers and 15 from the Internal Security were kidnapped.

Previously, eight soldiers were released by Al-Nusra Front, and mediation efforts are underway to free the rest. Relatives of kidnapped soldiers blocked the roads in many regions to press the government to exert more efforts to release them.
