Irish Paddy Power's operating profit down 14 percent in H1

(MENAFN) Paddy Power's operating profit fell by 14 percent to USD79.2 million in the first half of the year, according to the company's interim results, Xinhua reported.

The Irish bookmaker betting firm attributed the decrease to a run of unfavorable sports results, but it expected a strong start to the second half of the year with group net revenue up 45 percent.

"Very poor sports results had a gross impact of approximately USD46.2 million year-on-year, resulting in an 8 percent decrease in net revenue and a 44 percent decrease in operating profit," said the firm.
