China's Chalco logs USD669m net loss in H1

(MENAFN) The Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd. (Chalco) posted a first-half net loss of USD669 million, an increase of USD572.7 over a year earlier, Xinhua reported.

Chalco attributed the loss to a significant number of gains from capital operation in the first half of 2013, and a decrease of selling price by about 6 percent to 11 percent in the first half of 2014.

Operating revenue also dropped 4 percent on-year to USD 11.37 billion the first half of this year, mainly due to a decrease in selling price of its products, the company said.

Internationally, the average price of spot alumina declined by 3.3 percent over the same period a year ago, reaching USD322 per ton. In China, it lost 3.8 percent to USD395.69, Chalco said.
