Aeroflot posts net loss of USD53m in H1


(MENAFN) Aeroflot, the leading Russian airline, posted a net loss of USD53.0 million in the January-June period compared to a profit of USD1.218 million in the same period last year, Arab News reported.

The airline, a member of the SkyTeam alliance with Air France-KLM, registered an operating loss of USD378.88 million compared to a profit of USD1.40 billion rubles at the same time last year.

However, some growth was registered as sales rose by 9.4 percent to USD3.82 billion, due to a 10.3 percent rise in sales from passenger traffic.

"Despite the volatile economic situation we face this year, the Russian market continues to hold significant long-term structural growth potential, and the Group's unique competitive advantages will enable it to continue to outgrow the market," the airline's CEO said.
