Tourists spending in Spanish hits USD45.54b in Jan.-July


(MENAFN) Official figures showed that foreign tourists in Spain spent a total of USD45.54 billion in the January-July period of the year, Xinhua reported.

The figures indicated an increase of 7 percent when compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism data.

British tourists spent the largest amount of money during the period with a total of USD 8.96 billion, an increase of 7.1 percent over a year ago.

Foreign tourists spent the largest amount in the northeastern region of Catalonia, where they spent USD10.74 billion in the first seven months of the year.

In July alone, foreign visitors spent USD10.74 million, an increase of 4.5 percent when compared to July 2013, the ministry reported.
