Moderate Quake Jolts Eastern Indonesia


An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted eastern parts of Indonesia on Thursday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported.

The quake struck with epicenter at 238 km northeast Maluku Barat Daya of Maluku province with a depth of 151 km under seabed, China's News (Xinhua) reported.

Indonesia is prone to earthquake as it lies on a vulnerable quake-hit zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire."
