Montashir was crowned champion of the Aseel International Purebred Arabian Horse Cup which concluded in Kessel Germany this weekend. The championship was held over three days under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs.
The UAE ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany Jumaa Al Junaibi presented the trophy which is a piece of artwork from the 19th century to the winning jockey.
Meanwhile Al Junaibi praised the success of the outstanding events and expressed his pleasure for organising of this event in Germany under the generous patronage of the Shaikh Mansour for Purebred Arabians to underline the civilized and bright image of the UAE and to promote this noble creature.
“Equestrian is a noble sport which deserves encouragement and attention as it transplants smart values into individuals and the society as well as it provides opportunities for interaction between the culture and civilizations of the people” he said.
Lara Sawaya executive director Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Fstival praised the initiative of Shaikh Mansour to support the slice of Purebred Arabian horses and heritage races to serve the interest of the Arabian horse and increase the attention of the Purebred Arabians through the Aseel Cup which includes a number of mixed horse races.
“Such sport is an added value for the heritage sports related to the Purebred Arabians including the endurance qualifiers for 36 63 and 84km besides the riding styles dressage western riding style falcon Salukis which would culminate with the Aseel Cup in Kessel.
“This event was used to be held under the patronage of late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in the early nineties.
The organisation was excellent and the surroundings are charming in addition to the historic castle. It was really an exceptional and brilliant event which adds a lot to the heritage festivals” she said.
The events culminated with the Aseel International Cup 2014 under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The trophy will be awarded to the winning horse of the show alongside the winners of the mares and stallions categories of the Aseel Cup. Additional prizes would be presented to the outstanding riders in the show particularly in the saddled horses’ show which reveal the unique characteristics and features of the Purebred Arabian horses. The winners in the various categories and competitions would be voted by international judges.
