Two youths on trial over harassing woman on beach


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A 19-year-old Afghan faced the molestation charge while his teenage accomplice was referred to the Juvenile Court.A 19-year-old jobless Afghan man stood trial in the Court of First Instance on the charge of sexually harassing a woman on Al Mamzar Beach.

While the Afghan identified as M.B. faced the molestation charge his teenage accomplice was referred to the Juvenile Court.

The 29-year-old Belgian woman who works as a flight attendant said during investigation that she was on Al Mamzar Beach when M.B. and his friend came close to her.

“M.B. sat by my side while the other stood next to me. M.B. tried to initiate a conversation but I told him that I don’t want to talk.”

She stood up and M.B. grabbed her left thigh.

“I went near a family and the two accused followed her. Again M.B. groped and fondled me.”

The two accused were arrested by the port police on May 8.

A policeman said that he and his colleague were on patrol duty on the beach when the incident was reported.

“I saw the woman crying and she told us that M.B. touched her several times. We apprehended the pair and both of them confessed that they had touched the woman” the officder said.
