Emraan Hashmi plays the role of a scamster in this film.He believes that this is not a superficial con film like other con films made in Bollywood. “I had done my experiment and I did few films in certain kind of cinema and there was a script that came to me that was of a genre that I was waiting for a long time. It had a certain newness intrigue emotion and dramatic angle into a genre that has been explored before. This is a con film with a lot of emotions. It is a story of David V/S Goliath. It is a personal story of vendetta avenging his friend’s death. The villain is larger than life almost unbeatable. I found that intriguing.'

After experimenting with movies likeShanghai Ghanchakkar and Ek Thi Daayan Emraan has gone back to his roots of doing a full-fledged entertaining commercial film. “I was experimenting with those films. Whenever you are doing a detour and getting out of your comfort zone that is a bit scary. There was a payoff for these films. Probably it did not get me huge box office numbers but the perception about me completely changed. People never thought I could do a film likeShanghaiby completely transforming myself by putting on weight. That was a huge perception change. It is important for actor to do that creatively.”

This is Emraan’s fourth film with director Kunal Deshmukh. The duo has previously worked in films likeJannat Tum MileandJannat 2. While talking toKhaleej Times Kunal said: “We have become closer as friends and that helps me better. I do not try to prove to him that I do my job because he knows I know how to do my job and I never tell him how to act. That kind of security comes with a great working relationship.”

Pakistani actress Humaima Malik who gained critical acclaim from Pakistani filmBolmakes her debut in Bollywood with this film. “The good combo of director and the actor is what attracted me towards this film. I have watched their films before. I went totheaterto seeJannat 2because I really likedJannat. Kunal is a very intelligent director. Ithought that this film will be a great stepping stone for me in another nation where my hero is already a very big star” said Humaima while talking toKhaleej Times.
