EBONIE Sheldon was just six months old when she made her first flight and showed the composure of a frequent flyer.
Now the 19-year-old is set to take to take to the air full time after becoming Airways Aviation’s latest graduate.
Mrs Sheldon completed her Helicopter Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) in August and is preparing to make the transition into the industry in the coming months.
“I’m still struggling to believe I’m a commercial pilot” Ms Sheldon said.
“It just seems so surreal. It’s honestly a dream come true.
“I haven’t yet secured a place in the industry although I’m hoping to fairly quickly.
“As soon as I’ve received my new licence in the mail I’ll be trying to get myself into the industry.
“I am really hoping to stay with the company but if they don’t have anything available I’ll be looking for work in other scenic and joy flight operations to build my hours up.”
The Southport resident said Airways Aviation had provided her with elite training while her experience with the company’s Tangalooma-based scenic flight operation had given her the confidence to enter the workforce.
“I am so unbelievably grateful to Airways Aviation for helping me achieve this” she said.
“They provided all the help and motivation I needed to get me through.
“Even at times when I had no confidence in myself they did. I can’t thank them enough for that and I love all the staff there.
“The theory and flight instructors who get you through the course and want to make you the best pilot you can be.
“And the other staff are always there to listen when you need to talk or vent and are always there for support.“
