Arab League Welcomes Outcome of Libya Neighbors' Meeting


The Arab League Secretary General Nabil el-Araby has welcomed the outcome of the meeting of foreign ministers of Libya's eighboring countries, which was held Monday in Cairo, underlining the role of Libya's neighbors in achieving security and political stability there.

In a statement released Tuesday, Elaraby called on the Libyan people and political sides to back the legitimate elected constitutional bodies, notably the parliament and the constituent assembly as "representative of the will of the Libyan people and entrusted with the implementation of the political transition path." He stressed the Arab League's stance of rejecting violence and supporting the ongoing political process in the country as well as efforts to launch a comprehensive national dialogue and form a national unity government capable of saving the country from the dangers of terrorism, violence and civil war so as to preserve Libya's unity, stability and territorial integrity.
