Three Chinese Engineers Kidnapped in Turkey

Chinese Embassy in Turkey has confirmed that three Chinese engineers have been kidnapped by militants from the Kurdistan Worker’s Party, also known as the PKK. Chinese and Turkish sides are cooperating to rescue them.

The abduction reportedly took place in Turkey’s south-eastern province of Sirnak, near its border with Iraq and Syria. It is believed that the Chinese engineers had been working at a thermal power plant belonging to a private company in Sirnak’s district of Silpoli.

According to local sources, the three Chinese workers were kidnapped as they went to a nearby shop, China's News Agency (Xinhua) reported.

Turkish security forces have since launched a wide scale rescue operation to locate the missing workers.

So far no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnappings.
