Qatar grants USD136m for projects in Morocco


(MENAFN) Qatar offered Morocco USD136 million targeted to finance irrigation and meadows projects in the desert areas located in northern, central and southern parts of the kingdom, KUNA eported.

The grant is set to enhance irrigation of 2.500 hectares, improve food security and combat poverty by helping boost farmers' income and making the best use of natural resources through drip irrigation.

The second part of the project, which will cost around USD109 million, is set to target the development of meadows and organize movements in an area of around 16 million hectares.

The second part's main aim is to improve the environment, living and educational conditions for the people living in that area, estimated to be around 100.000 people.
