Arab table tennis tourney kicks off in Jordan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Arab table tennis tournament kick-started here on Monday with participation of 16 Arab countries, including Kuwait.

Kuwait Ambassador to Jordan Dr. Hamad Al-Du'aij attended the opening ceremony of the event, which runs until August 31; he met with the Kuwaiti players and urged them to convoy the message of the homeland to the participating delegations.

During the meeting Ambassador Al-Du'aij voiced hope that the players would achieve advanced positions, urging them to be good representatives of their country. The team comprises 24 players who compete in all age and gender groups of the tournament, Ambassador Al-Du'aij told KUNA.

During the opening, Vice-President of Arab Table Tennis Federation Khalil Al Mohannadi stressed the federation's keenness on upgrading the game on the fair-competition basis.

Besides Kuwait, the participants include Jordan, Saudi Araba, Iraq, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, Sudan and Palestine.
