4 women with fake visas for Oman arrested in India

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Police in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh have arrested four women trying to board a flight to Muscat with fake employment visas. The arrests were on Thursday during document checks at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in the state's capital city Hyderabad.

T Sudhakar an officer from the RGIA Police Station told Muscat Daily over phone from India that a local court on Monday remanded the women in police custody. 'The bail for the petitioners was denied as police sought more time for investigations' he said.

The women aged 28 to 51 years belonged to West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. 'During checks of their documents at RGIA it was found that they were trying to travel with fake employment visas' Sudhakar said.

They have been booked for cheating and forgery under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420 468 and 471 Sudhakar said and face a jail term of up to seven years and fines.

Sudhakar said it was too early to comment on the involvement of an organised crime ring with people from other Indian states also. 'Investigation is on and more details cannot be revealed' he said.
