According to a senior official Baks has been one of the leading charity associations to initiate the charity drive ‘school bag’ for low-income families in 1993.
Abdeen Taher Al Awadhi general manager at Baks said the bag-based scheme was developed in 2003 to donate school coupons to students and give them more options to choose whatever items that best suit their age and grade.
Al Awadhi said the society had started distributing the first batch of the stationery coupons to over 17000 students in the second week of August this year.
These students are listed in Baks branches of Dubai Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah along with the Al Maktoum Foundation Centres – which are run by the society in Barsha Hatta and Aweer.
“Up to 2719 students in Dubai 1988 in Barsha 3064 in Hatta 2611 in Aweer 1546 in Ajman 1703 in Ras Al Khaimah and 3353 in Fujairah have benefited from the over Dh2.5 million coupons already distributed in the first stage of the annual project.”
