Oman to play Kosovo in friendly on Sept 7

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Oman football team will play an international friendly against Kosovo on September 7 as part of its build-up for the Gulf Cup in November and the Asian Cup in January next year.

The match will be played in Kosovo's capital of Pristina the Oman Football Association (OFA) said on Sunday.

Kosovo was granted permission by the FIFA in January to schedule games against other FIFA member associations. Erol Salih secretary of the Football Federation of Kosovo said the game would be the first international friendly at Pristina's City Stadium.

The Oman-Kosovo fixture will take place four days after Paul Le Guen's men play a friendly against Ireland in Dublin on September 3. Ireland which is coached by Martin O'Neill will host Oman to prepare for its away outing of the Euro 2016 qualifiers against Georgia which will be played on September 7.

The Ireland team will be captained by Robbie Keane the leading active international scorer with 62 goals following Germany's Miroslav Klose's retirement earlier this month. Le Guen has already begun a domestic camp ahead of his team's trips to Dublin and Kosovo.
