Spain's foreign visitor numbers hit record in July


(MENAFN) Spain's foreign visitor numbers hit a record in July, raising the prospect of a significant economic boost from the important summer tourism season, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

Foreign tourist numbers to Spain increased to an unprecedented 8.3 million in July, up 5.9 percent from a year earlier, the Spanish tourism ministry said in a statement.

In the first half of 2014, foreign tourists spent around USD35 billion, up 7.8 percent from a year earlier. The most popular destinations were the Balearic islands and the southern region of Andalusia.
