Iran boosts carpet exports to stabilize economy

(MENAFN) Iran projects carpet exports could be boosted and contribute significantly to reduce unemployment in the country as it tries to stabilize its economy amid sanctions, Xinhua reported.

"Encouraging exports is a priority of Iranian government. We urge (carpet) exporters to promote their production and in turn boost employment," Iran's Vice President said.

Iran exports USD500 million worth of hand-woven carpets each year, which amounts to one third of the global market.
