Sharjah Airport passenger numbers up 19.58 percent in Q2


(MENAFN) Sharjah International Airport registered a 19.58 percent increase in passenger numbers in the April-June period due to airlines briefly adding more route capacity to the airport, Gulf News reported.

Due to Dubai International's runway refurbishment work in that period, several airlines including Jet Airways and Pakistan International Airlines increased their operations at the airport.

More than 2.6 million passengers used the airport compared to 2.17 million in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the number of aircrafts landing and taking off rose reached 18.979, up 16.28 percent, while the number of freights handled rose 5.28 percent, reaching 87.207.
