Oman- World mark gets ratified by council, says WSSR

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The World Sailing Speed Record Council has ratified the world record set by Musandam-Oman Sail for the Round Britain and Ireland Race that was held from August 11-14.

In a press statement on Thursday the WSSR confirmed that the MOD70 Musandam-Oman Sail skippered by Frenchman Sidney Gavignet achieved the world record mark.

Gavignet's crew comprised Damian Foxall Jan Dekker Fahad al Hasni Sami al Shukaili and Yassir al Rahbi.

Musandam-Oman Sail completed the journey in three days three hours 32 minutes and 36 seconds eclipsing the previous record set by Banque Populaire 5 skippered by Loick Peyron that was achieved in three days three hours 49 minutes and 14 seconds.
