25 countries apply showing interest to host Oman's expo on Islamic life


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) As many as 25 countries have shown interest to host the travelling exhibition 'Religious Tolerance: Islam in the Sultanate of Oman'.

Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs (MARA) the exhibition has 44 pictures and one film on the topic.

Georg Popp managing director Arabia Felix Synform GmbH the company which is handling the exhibition said 'There are at least 25 countries that have shown interest to host the exhibition. We expect this number to increase in the coming days.

'We are now negotiating with and have received applications from Australia Bahrain Belarus Burundi Canada France Greece India Indonesia Korea Kyrgyzstan Malaysia Malta Nepal New Zealand North Cyprus Portugal Romania Russia Switzerland Tajikistan Taiwan Tanzania Turkey and Uzbekistan.'

The exhibition promotes religious tolerance mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence. Some of the countries that the exhibition has travelled to include Austria Belgium Brazil Estonia Germany Italy Japan Kuwait Lithuania the Netherlands Pakistan Slovenia Spain the UK and the US.

Initially the exhibition material was available only in Arabic Dutch French English German Italian and Spanish languages but starting this year Hindi Indonesian Japanese Korean Malay Portuguese Russian Swahili and Urdu options have also been added. The exhibition was first held in Germany and Austria in 2010. 'Now multimedia materials are being added to enhance the exhibition. These include a multi-language website an online virtual exhibition portable display terminals video clips documentary films digitised manuscripts and more' said Popp.
