(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) As many as 352755 tourists including Omanis visited Salalah between June 21 and August 20 this year compared to 303365 in the same period of Khareef season last year a growth of 16.3 per cent.
The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) figures revealed that Omanis comprised 74 per cent of the visitors while 12.7 per cent were Emiratis and 4.9 per cent were from other GCC states. 'During this period 323153 GCC nationals visited Salalah compared to 275556 in the same period of 2013 registering 17.3 per cent increase. The number of non-GCC nationals reached 6410 compared to 3463 in the same period in 2013 a 85.1 per cent rise.'
Meanwhile the number of European visitors increased by 1.2 per cent from 1403 to 1420 while those from America increased by 39.1 per cent from 358 to 498. 'Visitors from Australia and New Zealand increased by 32.6 per cent - from 89 to 118 while those from Asia and Africa dropped by 6.5 per cent and 12.4 per cent respectively from 22374 and 121 last year to 20922 and 106 this year.'
Figures released by NCSI revealed that 100078 visitors arrived by air - 86630 on domestic flights and the rest on international flights. 'Another 252677 tourists arrived by road.'
