(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) This year Dar al Atta'a will reach out to around 5000 children from 37 schools under its Education Care Programme.
The children from schools in Muscat Batinah Dhofar and Nizwa will be given school stationery including uniforms and school bags. The charity organisation will also provide 330 needy families with basic medicines under this programme.
A senior official from Dar al Atta'a said 'We have the event every year but this time the number of students and schools are more because we want to provide the best of services and assistance to people of Oman who cannot afford the expenses. As a society it is our moral obligation to reach out to the needy. Along with bags and books to students we are also giving away basic medicines to needy families.'
The official said that since medicines are expensive having some basic ones at home would help.
'Students are benefitting from the programme since 2003-04. In 2013 nearly 2000 students and 31 schools were covered. This year more schools from Salalah Adam and Sur are being covered.'
