Hyundai, Kia strikes to cost USD63.8m losses

(MENAFN) Labor strike at Hyundai and Kia, South Korea's two top carmakers, is estimated to cost the tow automobiles up to USD63.8 million in combines losses, QNA reported.

The strike was due to unsolved issues between workers and management on whether to include regular bonuses as part of ordinary wages. Workers also plan to boycott overtime work this weekend.

Hyundai workers, in addition, are demanding an 8.16 percent raise in basic pay and an extension of the retirement age by two years to 60 without any strings attached.
