234 Ford Explorers recalled in Oman for faulty power steering

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Arabian Car Marketing in cooperation with the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has started recalling 234 Ford Explorers (2011 and 2012 models). The campaign which began on Tuesday will see recall of 85 2011 models and 149 2012 models of the vehicle.

In a statement the company said a fault in the power steering system puts the vehicle into manual mode. 'As a result the front and rear wheels are linked manually putting more pressure on the front ones while increasing the risk of accidents.'

The company said that it will inspect the codes of each recalled vehicle's power steering system at its service centres. 'The gear of the steering system will be replaced. If the codes are  lost then the power steering system will be re-programmed.'
