(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tokyo August 21 (QNA) - Tokyo stocks finished higher on Thursday with the Nikkei stock index rising for a ninth successive trading day to tie its winning streak of last December helped by the U.S. dollar's rise to the upper 103 yen zone according to Japan's News Agency (Kyodo). The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 131.75 points or 0.85 percent from Wednesday at 15586.20. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed 11.55 points or 0.90 percent higher at 1291.19. Major gainers included pharmaceutical rubber products and steel shares. (QNA)
