Irish CRH's earnings up 27 percent in H1


(MENAFN) Irish building materials group CRH plc has posted earnings increase of 27 percent, hitting USD671.42 million in the January-June period of 2014, Xinhua reported.

The Dublin-based group said its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) in the first-half jumped from USD527.83 million a year earlier.

CRH's sales revenue increased 4 percent, up to USD11.03 billion as its sales revenue grew 7 percent in Europe and 1 percent in the Americas, while like-for-like sales rose 5 percent.

"2014 got off to an encouraging start with favorable weather in Europe and continuing recovery in the US. We are pleased with the strong operating leverage," CRH CEO said.
