Kuwait, Yemen agree on bolstering energy cooperation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait and Yemeni agreed on boosting cooperation in the energy sector at the conclusion of the Kuwaiti-Yemeni joint committee here Wednesday.

In a press statement, the Kuwait Oil Ministry said that the three-day meetings have tackled different aspects of energy cooperation between the two Arab countries.

The Kuwait side has promised to continue grants to Yemen and to consider a Yemeni proposal to refine certain amount of Kuwaiti crude oil in Adan refinery, the statement said.

The Yemenis agreed on opening the door for Kuwaiti energy companies to explore for and produce oil in Yemen. In this regard, the Yemeni side presented invitations to Kuwaiti energy public and private sector companies to send delegation to assess investment opportunities in energy sector in Yemen.

Both sides also agreed on coordinating stances of energy and environment issues at different international and Arab energy organizations and events.

The Kuwaiti side vowed to back Yemeni demands to partake in the Gulf Cooperation Council energy meetings and to join the Arab Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (AOPEC).
